Panama will become an art showcase from 15th April.

As of April 15 th , Panama City will become a great artistic showcase, dressed up with sculptures, murals, paintings, films and photographs, as part of the First Biennial of the South in Panama "Summoning Worlds." The event to be held for the first time in Panama City is organized by the City of Panama, in commemoration of the V Centennial of the South Sea, together with Luz Botero, Art and Cultural Adviser of this city. The artists will reflect on the relationship among the themes of violence, economy, water and travel for 46 days of exhibitions in different parts of the capital, where about 300 artists from 65 countries will participate in this cultural celebration. During the launch, the Mayor Roxana Mendez affirmed that the objective is to democratize art and culture, and that the artists to take over the city by promoting public participation in an ongoing dialogue and interaction with the world of art. The Panamanian artists confirmed so far are: Aristides Ureña, José Luis Rodriguez Pitti, Olga Sinclair, Rita Adames, Gabriel Batista, Brooke Alfaro, Cisco Merel, Gladys Sevillano, Alicia Viteri, Osvaldo Herrera Graham, Bernice Abadi and Bela Abbo. One of the main attractions of the Biennale is the exhibition of 61 pieces at the Panama Canal Museum of the of the latest exposition of Fernando Botero, entitled "Viacrusis", with texts written by the Spanish historian Kosme of Barañano and curator José María Díaz-Maroto, National Photography Prize in Alcobendas, Spain.
